Benefits of a No Carb Diet

To be called a no carb diet, you should be eating less than 50 grams of carbohydrate in a day. Of course, even if you eat a little more than that, you'll still lose weight because of adaptive changes in your body. But when you eat such extremely low levels of carbs, your body shifts to utilizing other nutrients for energy.

Often these are fats and proteins. So you must include them in your food intake. On a no carb diet, you'll eat more of cheese, meat, eggs and fish. Also, since fats get oxidized to ketone bodies, your metabolism reaches a ketogenic state on a zero carb diet. That is why many advise getting a doctor's opinion before starting on a diet.
